Roguedolls Diary

I´m Picara the DollMaster of Roguedolls , I may say that all started in 2004 when I meet Blythe, but in fact all start 20 years, because I never play with my dolls normally, I custom and make dresses for them since i can remember, before I learn to sew my first creations were made of duck tape.

Painting and creating things with my hands has always been a means of self-expression for me.
My custom dolls are a reflection of myself and whatever mood I am in that time, so each doll is distinct and have her own personality and expression.

My creations are a combination of classical / modern, sweet but dark, realism / fairytale but all of them express what I feel.
My work is a fusion of personal experiences and influences: films, Victorian-inspired couture, retro futuristic and vintage style,Japan, personal fears and people I admire, actual fashion, feminine force, creepy things…and each doll offers a glimpse into their world through her eyes.

I mastery my own technique during all this years and style that was soon recognized, when I start working with Blythe in 2004 there wasn´t online shops with special materials for custom, tutorials, colored chips, special tools, etc… I love learning, I constantly study new techniques to broaden my horizons and evolve my art and handcraft techniques.
So this is why my dolls are so special and personal, I develop my style without direct references, the secret to beautiful and engaging artwork is looking inside to te artist personal work instead outside for inspiration and reproduce what you see over and over again, it´s boring.
I don´t focus the work to make them “cute”, they have a lot of work in the background, I give them a story , a complete character desing this is why they have that special aura, all my girls have her own personality. I like to think that I can bring life to inanimate objects.

After 5 years working with Blythe, more than 90 masterpieces and my own Style and technique developed during all this time the only limit is one’s Imagination.
Over time, I have created a signature Look that you can instantly recognise it’s a Picara Custom because I put my personal touch in each makeup, outfit, hairstyle, and pictures.
These Include: Glossy realistic lips, Cat Eyeliner, Facial Piercings, Actual Down Lashes or painted in 2 Tones, Multi Colored hair, Cat shape eyeshadow…
A Very popular Request is my Elegant Gothic Custom, Sweet Punk Girls and my Vampire Blythes. I transform them with Smiling Lips,
Reshape Eyes as well as Create Artwork on their Eyelids.
All my Doll and clothes sets are made with love and I put hours of effort into the littlest detail that most would overlook.
All work is done under magnification with the close attention to detail.
Creating a visual narrative is the most intriguing way of articulating my ideas and a doll is a perfect medium because of its potential for such visual story

So don´t miss the chance if you see my work on EBay, you have the opportunity to own my OOAK!
